COLLABORATIONS

Eco Space Foundation collaborates with other organizations, institutions and individuals to accelerate progress towards plant-based food systems.

THRIVE AFRICA VEGAN RESTAURANT WEEK

We actively participate in Thrive Africa Vegan Restaurant Week, an Africa-wide campaign and week-long celebration held across multiple African countries to increase accessibility of plant-based options and raise public awareness of factory farming and the benefits of a plant-based diet.

Thrive Africa Vegan Restaurant Week is an initiative of Thrive Africa and Thrive Philanthropy.

As the Ugandan implementer for this campaign, we recruit and support restaurants, caterers, hotels, schools, and other establishments to replace animal products with plant-based options. We provide culinary training, menu support, and public awareness activities. We also mobilize local communities and advocates through cooking demonstrations, food sampling, and diet change dialogues, while encouraging participating establishments to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to secure long-term commitments.

Since 2024:

15 restaurants participated

THRIVE AFRICA VEGAN SCHOOL LUNCH CAMPAIGN

We participate in the Thrive Africa Vegan School Lunch Campaign, the world's second pan-Africa-wide plant-based campaign by Thrive Africa and Thrive Philanthropy that amplifies the plant-based food justice movement across Africa. This week-long celebration increases accessibility for healthy, plant-rich options for student school lunches while bringing widespread awareness to healthy eating among children, families, and communities.

As implementers of this campaign in Uganda, we support schools through menu planning, chef training, and sustainability education to strengthen adoption of plant-based nutrition.

PLANT BASED TREATY CAMPAIGNS

Eco Space Foundation actively supports and endorses the Plant Based Treaty, a global initiative calling on governments to negotiate an international treaty as a companion to the Paris Climate Agreement. The Plant Based Treaty aims to halt the expansion of animal agriculture, promote a shift to healthy and sustainable plant-based diets, and reverse damage to ecosystems caused by animal farming.

Through collaboration with local Plant Based Treaty chapters, we engage in various campaign activities including collecting endorsements, as well as advocating for plant-based menu options.
