Advancing Animal Justice and Plant-Based Food Systems Across Uganda
to defend animals, strengthen local communities, and nurture our planet.
WHO WE ARE
Eco Space Foundation is a grassroots organization in Uganda dedicated to promoting veganism, animal rights, and sustainable food systems. Since 2023, we’ve been working with schools, policymakers, and communities across Uganda to advance animal rights and make plant-based food more accessible.
Our mission is to defend animals, drive food systems change, and build sustainable communities.
WHAT WE DO
We focus on food systems change because it addresses animal justice, environmental protection, and equitable food systems together. Our programs work with different sectors of Ugandan society to build lasting change:
School Outreach
We deliver vegan education in schools through workshops, fruit tree planting, and student-run Vegan Clubs. Students learn about animal rights, sustainable diets, and climate action while developing ethical and sustainable practical skills. We also advocate for plant-based meal policies and food systems change initiatives, as well as incorporating veganism into the school curriculum.
Institutional Outreach
We engage communities, restaurants, and institutions through cooking demonstrations, menu planning, and stakeholder dialogues. We also advocate for plant-based friendly policies and institutional food systems change. As part of this program, we facilitate chef training and public awareness campaigns that make plant-based options more available.
Street Outreach
We promote compassionate, sustainable living through non-confrontational public engagement, including street outreach, leafleting, and respectful conversations, as well as film screenings and other dedicated events. The program is focused on raising awareness about how food choices impact animals, our health, and the environment.
Animal Agriculture Transition
We support individuals involved in animal agriculture to transition to sustainable, cruelty-free livelihoods. Participants receive training in organic farming, afforestation, and plant-based alternatives while learning about veganism and animal rights.
Research and Policy Change
We produce evidence-based research on veganism, animal rights, and food systems change to inform policy and public health discussions across Uganda.
